Dancing from the age of 2–16 years at Tweedale Academy of Dancing my mind was made up from a very early age about what I was going to do when I was “a big girl.” After taking part in seven professional pantomimes from the age of 6 dancing and acting alongside many professional music and television stars, appearing on stage with professional ballet companies and also two television appearances, dancing was going to become my life, nothing else came close and never once did I change my mind.

After leaving school at the age of 16 I left home for three years to attend Pattison Dance Academy and College in Coventry. Here I had more opportunities to perform professionally including performing on a cruise liner in my first term there as well as gaining teaching qualifications with the IDTA and ISTD. Whilst in my second year at college I set up my own dance classes at Cheadle Leisure Centre at the weekends, never did I realize how two small disco classes could grow to become something so special all these years later.

Upon graduating from college with teaching qualifications AIDTA Ballet, Tap, Theatre Craft, Modern and Freestyle and AISTD National, I expanded my classes to Leek and Biddulph Leisure Centres.

In 1999 I decided it was time to put on my first show. “Stagestruck” was a fabulous
experience and a huge success.

After this, I returned to Coventry once a week to further my teaching qualifications and I gained my Licenciate ballet qualification with the IDTA. I also attended Steelworks Performing Arts Academy to gain my bbodance teaching qualification.

In 2001 I made the huge decision to find my own premises in Cheadle, it was a very scary decision but the support I received from students and parents was amazing and it was such a success that in 2003 I took the plunge and moved from Biddulph Leisure Centre to our own premises in Brindley Ford.

I have never looked back and all these years on I feel ELDA has achieved so much. Our students take exams on a regular basis and we continue to put on fantastic shows. I have watched many of my students grow up from being in the nursery class, leaving to go to full time dance colleges, gain their teaching qualifications, go to university and some now even bring their own children. I love what I do and I feel very privileged to have a dance academy with such a fabulous team of teachers, amazing students and the parents who support them.
